About This Position

Blackburn Detectives have an exciting opportunity for ex-service men and women who are looking for a new career after leaving the forces within the private investigation industry.

The role is a self-employed position meaning you will control how many hours and days you work.

You will be offered surveillance & vehicle tracking assignments nationwide. Our Case Managers will provide you with instructions regarding each case and will be on hand to support you. You will also provide your Case Manager with the appropriate updates for our clients.

Our national Head Office is based in Nottinghamshire, where we have an open-door policy for agents to drop in for any extra training, equipment collection or to discuss case related issues.

Blackburn Detectives Will Offer You

  • Support and knowledge within the private investigation field
  • Training provided on how to produce a court ready surveillance report
  • Tracking equipment to undergo vehicle tracking deployment tasks
  • Tracker training (if required)
  • Guidance on what equipment will be needed for your new role
  • A recommended trusted accountant to assist you in becoming self-employed
  • Paid training sessions to clarify your experience within the field
  • Online training/support on LocalPI’s portal

Key Requirements

  • You need to be computer literate
  • Own a laptop/PC with Microsoft Office Word
  • Have your own economic transport
  • The ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
  • Willing to travel throughout the UK
  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • Funds to purchase the basic surveillance starter kit (Costing between £300 - £500)

Confidentiality

You will be required to sign our confidentiality agreement and, in addition, you will need at least 2 referees that we can contact.

About Blackburn

  • Blackburn is bounded to the south by Darwen, with which it forms the unitary authority area of Blackburn with Darwen.
  • At the time of the UK Government's 2001 census, Blackburn had a population of 105,085.
  • A former mill town, textiles have been produced in Blackburn since the middle of the 13th century, when wool was woven in people's houses in the domestic system.
  • Flemish weavers who settled in the area during the 14th century helped to develop the woollen cottage industry in the region.
  • The most rapid period of growth and development in Blackburn's history coincided with the industrialisation and expansion of textile manufacturing.
  • Blackburn was a boomtown of the Industrial Revolution, and amongst the first industrialised towns in the world.
  • Blackburn's textile sector fell into a terminal decline from the mid-20th century.
  • Blackburn has subsequently faced similar challenges to other post-industrial northern towns, including deindustrialisation, economic deprivation and housing issues.
  • Blackburn has had significant investment and redevelopment in the past 60 years by monies from government and the European Regional Development Fund.
  • Blackburn stands 401 feet (122 m) above sea level, 8.9 miles (14.3 km) east of Preston and 21 miles (34 km) north-northeast of Manchester.
  • The Ribble Valley and West Pennine Moors lie to Blackburn north and south respectively.
  • Blackburn experiences a temperate maritime climate, like much of the British Isles, with relatively cool summers and mild winters.
